Creating a research figure: Tips from graphic design

ECRLife is a blog produced by eLife that offers a place for early career researchers (ECRs) to share insights and advice about research life. As a formally trained graphic designer I get excited by the opportunity to help researchers improve their science communication. A year ago, eLife invited me to use my design chops and make a blog post giving tips on how to create great research figures. The invite came at a challenging time for me as my husband and I were moving to Oregon through some pretty snowy Cascades! But I think I was able to put together something useful. Check out the finished blog entry here!
